Sam Thomassen’s journey into the trades began early, working as an electrician during his high school and college years. Those hands-on experiences shaped his passion for the home improvement industry and gave him a deep appreciation for the dedication it takes to master a trade. With a background rooted in electrical work, Sam understands firsthand the hard work and skill required to thrive in the trades.
Over the years, Sam ventured into entrepreneurship, but it wasn’t an easy path. Lacking the guidance and mentorship he needed when he first started, he made plenty of mistakes—valuable lessons that shaped his approach today. It wasn’t until later in his career, when the right mentors stepped in, that everything began to click. That experience fueled his desire to create Dream Venture, a company focused on providing the kind of support he wished he’d had from the start.
Now, Sam’s mission is to help skilled tradespeople transition into leadership and business ownership, turning their expertise into thriving companies. Dream Venture is about more than building businesses—it’s about building people, uncovering talent, and empowering underdogs to become exceptional leaders. Through mentorship, coaching, and equity opportunities, Sam is committed to creating sustainable companies while giving tradespeople a clear path to ownership and financial success.
As the former CEO of State Roofing (now Chairman of the Board), Sam knows what it takes to grow and lead businesses in the trade sector. His leadership philosophy focuses on lifting others, building legacies, and creating real opportunities for people to thrive.
